“the just shall live by his faith.” – Habakkuk 2:4
This is the conclusion, made plain and simple, in the bible. Not at the beginning, not at the end, in the book of revelation, but in an old testament book, in a small little book, from a not so well-known prophet.
It is the conclusion of what it takes to be a Christian, what it means to be a Christian, what is the whole point of being a Christian – to live by faith, but faith in whom and for what reason?
That is the point of Faithly.
I love this verse from the Bible,
And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years…. – Genesis 5:22
Because after walking with God for 300 years,
And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. – Genesis 5: 24
Enoch never tasted death, but, by faith, he walked with God, just like how Adam used to walk with God in the garden of Eden, and had a relationship with him before the fall.
Faith in God, means walking with him. Talking to him. Praying to him. Worshipping him. Believing in him. Honouring him. Fearing him. Listening to him. The list is endless, but the message is clear – have faith in God, because in the end, when its all said and done, being a Christian, is about walking with God.
Christianity is not something you can force on someone, or manipulate or coerce someone into doing. If a person does not want to have a relationship with God, if they don’t want to walk with him, its their choice.
There are many who claim to be Christians, yet, they do not walk with God, talk to God, and have faith in God.
I call them the ‘so-called’ Christians. They like to identify as Christians, they attend church every time, they give to the church, they even preach the Gospel, and yet, they are not Christians.
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. – Matthew 19: 17 – 22
The young man, like many Christians, had kept the commandments, and was a good man. There many good people. Some are not even Christians. But Jesus, saw through it all – no faith. He simply asked the young man, sell everything, give it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven – and come follow me – so why did the young man become sad and turned away?
Because all he did wasn’t for Jesus. In fact when he went to ask Jesus, what do I lack? he wanted Jesus to say, ‘nothing’ you are perfect, a role model of what it means to be a Christian – but instead, Jesus asked him to do something he had asked his disciples to do. Its not like Jesus made it intentionally hard for the young man, he simply made it about Faith, and the young man proved that all his good deeds, weren’t because of faith in God, it was more for himself.
A lot of Christians are Christians for themselves. Not for God. This website teaches you to become a Christian for God. Not for what you can get from God. Not for what God should do for you right now, or next week, or next year. Not for getting a job, or getting rich, or avoiding death or finding someone to marry or for having children, or getting healthy again – you are going to learn to walk with God, if you want to, moment by moment, day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year until ‘we are not’ because God has ‘taken us‘
That is the whole point of being a Christian, the whole point of Faithly, to walk with God, have faith in him, because when it is all said and done, ‘The Just Shall Live By Faith‘
So each day, I will share something with you about faith. Every podcast or YouTube video or content you see from Faithly is all about your relationship with God – between you and God, you know where you are in this journey, you know where you are going, I’m only hear to help you walk with God, walk with Faith, so that you become justified in the eyes of God.
